This is a tribute portrait of Dr. Alex Ekwueme.
On materiality, the shades of wood chips, charcoal and palm husks were carefully gummed on the woven substrates to produce the portrait of Late Dr. Alex Ekwueme.
Exploring the metaphorical implications of wood in African cosmology, I symbolically employed the reverred sacredness of the medium to reflect on the person of Dr. Ekwueme and his contributions to Nigeria
